Converting leads into sales or potential customers into customers is the aim of all businesses. Because if you don’t have customers what would your business be? And there are many ways to go about this. I’ve been in this long enough to know, that the things that I’m going to talk about, really do work.
What we will be discussing today is, we want to know who our audience is. We don’t want to do business with random people, we want to target specific people. Secondly, we want to make them comfortable with our work, so, we don’t want to force them in any way. Always, and always deliver more than expected. Make sure you don’t baffle the prospect. Converting leads into sales can be a little difficult at first, but it’s a skill. You can master any skill if you put in the time. Have something about your business that makes you stand out. It helps your audience distinguish you from all the other people in the market. And lastly, be open to change. Let’s see what we actually mean by that.
Target your audience
Targeting your audience is really important because you want to do business with a certain set of people. Not everyone is going to be fit for doing business with. Target your audience and have a database so you can retarget them. A good way to do that is by collecting their emails. Email marketing is a highly repeatable process and has the best returns. Look for people who would want your product or service and do everything in your power to be found. You want to be found. It doesn’t matter how good you are if no one knows about you.
There are many ways to go about this. Like everything else on the internet, you have two options – either build or buy. If you’re doing everything yourself, obviously it’s going to take much longer. Paid promotions and ads are highly advisable as they automate all the difficult things and you can get your results without much hassle. But if you don’t have the money, or don’t want to invest in paid promotions just yet, you can do it with free traffic as well.
For paid promotions, you can go with
For Free traffic, you can
- Join social media groups
- Use a good forum, like Reddit or quora
- Network with people who come under your target audience list
- Reach out and build some experience with people who are doing well in your niche.
But keep in mind that when you are trying to target your audience, you don’t want to spam the internet. No one likes a spammer. Provide as much value as you can.
You need to understand that no one is going to buy from you when you approach them for the first time, especially if you pitch them. It’s the most desperate move on your part and if you do that, good luck converting your leads into sales. You don’t want to come off as a robot. Your customers are human beings, so act like a human being. They are actual people and no one is going to give you their hard-earned money if they don’t see a very good reason. It’s your job to provide them the initial value. Give them something for their time, give it for free. Once you’ve built a good enough rapport, then only do you pitch them for a sale. If they don’t buy, keep providing them value in whatever way you were. Converting your leads into sales is not an overnight process, it takes time and effort. Don’t fall short on either on your part.
Lead the conversation
Whenever you are talking to a potential buyer, always lead the conversation. The way you carry yourself matters, the way you talk matters and most of all, what you bring to the table matters. Guide them through the process and never try to prove your superiority by degrading your competition. Tell them what you do best, but don’t impose it either. You want to be completely sure about what it is that you need them to do. Do not confuse them and try to keep things as simple as possible.
Don’t use cheap salesmen tactics to be persistent where you need to back off a little, it pushes people away. Find out if your potential customer is the situation to buy from you or not. Everyone has problems and someone may not be your customer now but wish to consider you for the future. Always have a good relationship with people. 100% of the consumers are people, 100% of the producers are people, if you don’t understand people, you don’t understand business.
Don’t sell the product, sell the result
When you’re trying to sell something to a person, don’t sell the product, sell the emotion behind it. Every product is a means to an end. People don’t buy things for the sake of buying things, they buy things because they want to do something with it. Everything has a purpose and people want that purpose fulfilled, that’s why they buy them. This is what advertisements do and it can be a great help in converting your leads into sales. Advertisements sell a feeling, a certain way that a certain thing will make you feel if you buy it. They glorify the feeling and it works every time.
So, sell the result, not the product itself. If your product helps people get to a result that they want to achieve, they’ll buy it.
Have a strong customer support
Having good customer support to guide your customers is a must for every business. Now keep in mind, if people need customer support it means you’re not doing a very good job. A good product means that people will have no problem using it and won’t need a lot of assistance. But whenever people reach out to you for assistance, make sure that you’re patient with them at all times.
The customer is not always right, always remember that. On the contrary, the customer is rarely right. You just need to be patient and polite in explaining them so.
Be accessible when your customers need you. Get back to them as soon as you can. A good user experience is a foundation for a great business.
Always deliver more than expected
Always provide as much value as you can. Never let your customers down. And never fail to deliver what was promised, on the contrary, always deliver more than expected. At the end of the day, your work speaks for itself. If you do everything right and your product or service just plain old sucks, no one is going to give a damn about anything you do. The truth is, people don’t care, and neither do you. People come to you because you serve a purpose. And you serve them because it serves you. So, you should always keep your game up. It’s common sense, to be honest, but anyway you gotta do that.
Have something that makes you stand out
When you have something that makes you stand out from all the other competitors in the market, it gives your customers one more reason to pick you over them.
Almost everything has been done in today’s modern world. So, you need to have a distinguishing factor. Something that says what new do you bring to the table. It can be anything. It can be something as simple as a unique color theme, or a tiny parting gift or anything at all. People notice little things and little things can have a major impact.
